Service concept for children, space renovation and establishment of new services for the local community. This project started through volunteering in the year 2014 activating residents of Lauttasaari and the library staff. Following the changes of the population of the Lauttasaari neighbourhood it was noted that the profiles of the users of the library will radically change from elderly people to young families with children. At that point the library lacked of suitable areas designed for children or new communitarian spaces for social activities.
As a result of a participative process, a children's section was designed for the library as well other multifunctional facilities.

The City Library Development Project is an excellent example of new ways of using design and customers
